Peachtree CEO Addresses Fasano Life Settlement Conference

Jim Terlizzi, CEO of Peachtree Life Settlements, called on the life settlement industry to be more proactive in putting forth a regulatory agenda addressing broker fee disclosure, insurable interest abuses and other issues affecting the life settlement market. He urged the more than 275 industry participants attending Fasano Associates’ Third Annual Life Settlement Conference to become more politically active.

Terlizzi’s comments were echoed by Terry Lierman, Chair of the Maryland Democratic Party, who stressed the need to educate legislators on the benefits offered by the life settlement industry.

“I was impressed by both the quality of the presentations and the diversity of attendees,” said Michael Fasano, President of Fasano Associates. “We had people from the life insurance industry and the investment banking community along with life settlement providers, brokers and funders. The broad based interest in life settlements is an indication of our industry’s staying power.”

A life settlement is the sale in the secondary market of a life insurance policy that no longer meets the needs of the policy owner. Life settlements bring together the capital and insurance markets to provide owners of life insurance competitive market values for their policies.
