David Dorr Founder, CEO & President

David Dorr is the Founder of Life-Exchange.  Mr. Dorr’s intimate experience with the growing industry of life settlements led him in 2004 to file a patent for the concept of a web-based electronic marketplace for all aspects of the life settlement broker to provider relationship.  In addition to Mr. Dorr’s innate business acumen and comprehensive understanding for the past, present and future of the life settlement Industry, Mr. Dorr brings to Life-Exchange an extensive portfolio of exceptional industry relationships and resources.

Mr. Dorr is routinely asked to offer his comments and insights into the life settlement industry and has been asked to speak both in the U.S. and Europe at industry conferences, including the BVZL Conference in Dortmund, Germany, the Life Insurance Settlement Association Conference in New York, and the Emerging Investment Strategies in the Secondary Life Market, Hedge Fund Conference in New York.  In addition, his comments have appeared in magazines such as Businessweek and Investment Dealers Digest - “Cantor Eyes Life Settlement Exchange; firm will attempt to create liquidity in controversial, complex market with massive potential”,  June 26, 2006.  Mr. Dorr has also authored two articles for the Journal of Structured Finance, “Longevity Trading: Bridging the Gap Between the Capital Markets and Insurance Markets,” Summer issue JOSF 2007 and “Extending the Efficient Frontier with Life Settlements,” Summer issue JOSF 2008.

Prior to launching Life-Exchange, Mr. Dorr was Director of Business Development for Life Asset Group.  He was introduced to Life Asset Group in early 2003 when it was a start-up operation.  In his position as Director of Business Development, Mr. Dorr was instrumental in structuring, staffing and managing every department within the firm, including case management, case coordination, marketing, policy analysis, and business development.  In no small part, Mr. Dorr was vital in building Life Asset Group from a startup operation of one employee, to a profitable operation of 22 employees within two years.  Life Asset Group is now considered one of the nation’s top three life settlement brokerage firms.

Brian Dorr Vice President of Longevity Trading

As VP of Longevity Trading, Brian Dorr’s primary focus is on the creation of Life-Exchange features and functionality which closely fit the current and future needs of the life settlement industry. One of Mr. Dorr’s many strengths is his ability to quickly and efficiently condense the numerous life settlement business processes into their constituent parts so that they can readily be translated into an easy to use, highly practical software application.

Most recently, Mr. Dorr was employed by Life Asset Group; one of the nations largest life settlement brokerage firms. While with Life Asset Group, Mr. Dorr was primarily responsible for the creation and management of the firm’s Case Coordination Department. In this role, Mr. Dorr was responsible for interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training all case coordinators and case managers. In addition to his management duties, Mr. Dorr was responsible for sourcing, recommending and implementing software applications to streamline case management. Mr. Dorr was also a member of the firm’s in-house design committee responsible for design and improvements to the firm’s Customer Resource Management system. Over his tenure with the firm, Mr. Dorr cultivated numerous relations with life insurance carriers and life expectancy estimators, and he personally facilitated the brokerage of over $400M in life settlement policies.

Mr. Dorr is currently licensed as a Life Agent/Producer and Life Settlement Broker in over 40 states. He is currently studying for his CLU and CFP licenses.

Carl F. Lettow, Jr. Director of Business Development

Carl F. Lettow, Jr. is a native of Savannah, Georgia, and has been active in the insurance industry for 48 years. During his career, he has served as an agent, a PPGA, and an agency director responsible for a southeastern organization employing thirty insurance professionals.

Operating offices in Atlanta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina for over ten years, Carl’s managerial experience expanded and refined the agency and it’s accomplished producers.

In addition, Mr. Lettow served the industry as President of the Georgia State Association of Life Underwriters in 1983 & 1984, and is a member of Life Leaders of Georgia.

He became a life member of MDRT in 1986, and received further distinction with numerous awards and industry recognition throughout his career as a producer.

Mr. Lettow is currently engaged in market development activities for Life-Exchange, an online auction platform developed for buyers and sellers involved in the growing life settlements industry. His many years of experience in the insurance business community and his impressive network of contacts bear testimony to his importance in the financial services arena.

Anne Zand Senior Case Manager

Anne Zand is has been a Sr. Case Manager with Life-Exchange Inc. since November 2007. She assists our clients with pre-qualifying, processing, and closing their Life Settlement Cases all the way from gathering medical records through the final review of closing documents.

Prior to joining Life-exchange, Inc., Anne spent 5 years in the mortgage industry.  During her years in the mortgage industry she worked various positions, starting out as a retail loan officer with ABNS AMRO in 2002.  She later joined their relocation department where she assisted large US corporations; relocate their employees and getting them into their new homes across the US.
In 2004, she moved into an account executive position with Finance America, who later joined forces with Lehman Brothers’ BNC Mortgage.  During this time, her responsibilty was to sign on mortgage brokers and complete a preliminary underwriting of their loans files and assists in moving them through closing.

Anne grew up in Denmark where she completed her Business degree before taking a job in McLean VA in 2007.  During her year in McLean, she met her husband of 10 years and moved to the United States permanently in November of 1999.  After working in the teleconference and communication sector for a year, she joined Pfizer Pharmaceuticals North East Regional Office team in 2000 as the assistant to the Regional Manager of their Park Davis 2 Division.  In 2002 she moved to Miami Beach where she now resides with her family.

Carline Gele Office Manager

Carline Gelé is the Office Manager for Life-Exchange, Inc.  She has been with the company since June 2008. She maintains and oversees the day to day activities of the office.  She has a background of more than ten years administrative experience.

Prior to joining Life-Exchange, Inc, she was a Program Coordinator for the Massachusetts Department of Education. Her responsibilities included serving as the Commissioner of Education’s primary liaison to major educational agencies including the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, D.C.  In 2004, she was part of the asset management team of the Democratic National Convention in Boston. In addition to her work responsibilities, Carline was the varsity volleyball coach for Pope John Paul XXII in Everett, Massachusetts from 2003 to 2008 and was voted “coach congeniality” by the school’s Parent Teacher’s Association in 2005.

Carline received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts in Boston in 1996. 
Carline grew up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  In her continuing pursuit to get involved, she and some friends founded HDU Organization (Haitian Diaspora United), whose purpose is to help end child hunger in Haiti.  Carline is an avid tennis, volleyball and scrabble player.

James Smith VP of Strategic Relations

James Smith brings with him a long track record in sales, marketing and business development.  Mr. Smith has built his career by using his skills and experience in corporate sales and public speaking.

Prior to joining Life-Exchange, Mr. Smith was the Director of Business Development for Life Asset Group, a Miami based life settlement broker.
During his tenure with Life Asset Group Mr. Smith secured and managed several broker dealer relationships as well as relationships with MGA’s, BGA’s and large producers from around the country. Mr. Smith’s duties included presenting at regional and national meetings, conducting webinars, working one on with producers and acting as the life settlement liaison for the home office of several large broker dealers.  Internally, Mr. Smith was responsible for coordinating the communication between case services and business development.  In addition he worked with the firm’s compliance department and the company’s founder to develop company policies and protocols.

As the VP of Strategic Relationships at Life-Exchange, Mr. Smith is responsible for enhancing institutional client services and developing new partnerships.  He also works closely with the company’s managing principals on market strategies and company branding.

Justin Tarrants Corporate Strategy and Technology Advisor

 
Justin Tarrants is a technology and globalization consultant who advises NGOs, private corporations and government agencies on various business processes and financing. Currently Mr. Tarrants is involved in several consulting engagements with alternative energy, micro-finance, trade and technology projects in South America.

Mr. Tarrants was formerly a Trade Commissioner with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. As a Trade Commissioner, Mr. Tarrants provided business development services to technology, aerospace and defense companies through the development of strategic partnerships, alliances and advocacy efforts in the Florida and Latin America region. In addition to business development, his role also involved assisting companies with international compliance and dealing directly foreign government agencies in the- Region.

During the tech boom of the late nineties, Mr. Tarrants worked as a business intelligence analyst for a California based technology research firm where he reviewed new technologies in the digital media, internet, and wireless sectors. Mr. Tarrants continues is considered an expert in new technologies and considers himself to be a “futurist” in this regard; closely following trends in quantum computing, nanotechnology, biotechnology, alternative energies and analyzing how these new technologies will affect future global market economies.

Mr. Tarrants holds a BA from California State and a Masters from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. He is married to his wife Imyra of nearly 10 years and now resides Rio de Janeiro Brazil.
